Paint Color Trends for 2018

A gorgeous living room painted in Anew Gray by Sherwin Williams

As 2018 approaches, the grays are still dominating the painting scene. However, we’re seeing a rapid shift in the direction of “Greige” (a mix of gray and beige).

Neutrals are always a good idea when it comes to painting your home, and more often than not any neutral will withstand the test of time. LaffCo. Painting has seen grays at the top of client wish lists for several years, with this shift towards warmer neutrals and Greige’s popping up over the past few months.

Gray Owl and Repose Gray are giving way to Anew Gray and Accessible Beige. The warm undertones of these colors keep spaces looking neutral while still giving the room a different feel.

When picking a color for your home in 2018, it’s best to stick with one or two colors. Keep it simple; no reason to break up the house with five or more colors, essentially segregating each room. By keeping things uniform, you’ll create more of a flow throughout your home.

In general, it’s always a great idea to stay with neutral, warm colors. Historical collections are colors that have withstood the test of time, and are mostly comprised of muted colors. If you can’t make up your mind, most stores have a historical color chart which shows colors that remain the most popular year after years. This could be a great starting point when choosing your color palette.
